Semiconductor industry sales growth of over 30% in the first half of the year

CCID Consulting recently released the semiconductor industry research report for the first half of this year. In the first half of the year, the total output of China's chips reached 19.274 billion pieces, an increase of 15.2% over the same period of 2006. The total sales of the whole industry was about 60.722 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.2%. Compared with the 48% increase in the first half of last year, it fell by nearly 15%.
Li Wei, a consultant at CCID Consulting's Semiconductor Industry Research Center, said that the largest decline in the growth rate was in the chip design industry, which fell from 50.8% to 22.8%.
But the embarrassing fact is that the rapid growth of the domestic chip manufacturing and packaging and testing industry depends on multinational companies. As far as the beta test is concerned, Suzhou Qimonda contributed up to 2 billion yuan in the first half of the year. In terms of manufacturing, Hynix’s revenues were as high as 3 billion yuan, and many domestic companies experienced negative growth. SMIC only grew 2.7%. Shi Mingda, chairman of Nantong Fujitsu, also told the newspaper the day before. If the revenue of foreign companies is not included, the sales of China's packaging and testing industry is “quite ambiguous”. The main reason is that the downstream consumer markets such as MP3 and camera are weak, resulting in sales of only 9.532 billion yuan in the design industry.
The two largest design companies, Zhuhai Actions and Zhongxing Micro, were dismal. In the second quarter, the former's revenue was only $27 million, down 11% from the first quarter; the latter's first quarter (as of June 30) was a net loss of $3.8 million. Li Xiangwei, chairman of Actions, said that the decline in consumer electronics prices is very obvious, which directly affects the price of parts.
However, due to the rapid increase in production capacity, the domestic chip manufacturing and packaging and testing industry continued to grow steadily. In the first half of the year, chip manufacturing sales increased by 34.3% year-on-year, and sales of sealed and tested products reached 32.784 billion yuan, accounting for more than 50% of the industry's revenue, a year-on-year increase of 36.1%.
Li Wei believes that by the end of this year, the output value of China's semiconductor market is expected to account for 8% of the world.
