With the rapid development of automatic driving, automatic taxi driving will be the trend. After countries such as the United States and Japan began testing autopilot taxis, Singapore also joined the ranks of self-driving taxis. Delphi recently announced that it participates in the Singapore Government's Automated Driving Car Rental Test Program, which is in line with the Singapore Land Transport Authority's application of the Internet Vehicle, and provides the latter with a drone-free test vehicle. Future visitors to Singapore may have the opportunity to rent Unmanned Taxi team.
Delphi provided six Audi SQ5s unmanned vehicles covering 8 kilometers of test sections. The test will be divided into three phases, first equipped with human drivers to respond to emergencies. After that, the human driver will gradually be used, and the steering wheel will eventually be removed from the vehicle to achieve full automatic driving.
Glen DeVos, senior vice president of Delphi Engineering, said:
This will allow us to demonstrate the entire ecosystem, including relevant knowledge and capabilities, vehicles and sensors, cloud-based driverless software, fleet management systems, data and analysis systems.
At 2016CES, Delphi launched the V2E (Vehicle toEverything) solution. The car departed from San Francisco on the west coast of the United States and arrived in New York on the East Coast after 5,500 kilometers. 99% of the time was in the autopilot mode. The Audi SQ5 debuted again and was equipped with V2E technology. V2E let this one SQ5 can communicate with streets, road signs, traffic lights, other vehicles and even pedestrians through hardware and software devices. The pilot driverless car rental program in Singapore is planned for three years. If it goes smoothly, it can be fully commercialized by 2022.
