The US Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office has announced a funding opportunity that may be of interest to solid-state lighting-related agencies. The Loan Project Office (LPO) invests in US innovation to accelerate the deployment of clean energy plans across the United States, and any innovations that avoid, reduce or block greenhouse gas emissions are listed here.
To date, the Loan Projects Office has supported large loans, loan guarantees, and commitments, covering more than 30 project plans, amounting to $30 billion. These funds are used to plan investments, create jobs, reduce pollution and increase the competitiveness of the US economy in the global economy.
The loan project office has more than $40 billion in payments to the required community. Apply for Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy (REEE) Projects Solicitation and the Clean Energy Lump Guarantee Program under the Energy Polcy Act of 2005.
Qualified programs must use new technologies or improved technologies, and innovations that avoid, reduce or block greenhouse gas emissions are listed here. The applicant must be located in the United States and the funding needs must be within reasonable limits. Units that have successfully applied in the past also cover solid-state lighting manufacturing projects.
The minimum loan amount is $20 million, which covers about 80% of the project cost. The first and second rounds of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project (REEE) will expire on November 30, 2016.
