Xiamen Port exports 330 million energy-saving lamps annually
The reporter learned from Xiamen Customs that in recent years, the export of energy-saving lamps at Xiamen Port has achieved a leap-forward growth. The export market for energy-saving lamps is also becoming more diversified and is no longer confined to the EU.
According to reports, Xiamen has a national-level photovoltaic industry base, which is one of the three major production bases for energy-saving lamps in China.
Xiamen Customs statistics show that the energy-saving lamps exported from Xiamen Port have increased rapidly from 68.78 million in 2001 to 330 million in 2006. In the first two months of this year, the export of energy-saving lamps reached 55.23 million, an increase of 85.4% over the same period of last year. The average export price was higher than the average level of similar products in the country by more than 50%.
In July 2001, the Council of the European Union decided to take anti-dumping measures against China's energy-saving lamps and impose an anti-dumping duty of up to 66.1%. After a brief adjustment in 2002, since 2003, the number of energy-saving lamps exported from the Xiamen port to the EU has reached a new level every year. From 24.21 million in 2003, to 37.12 million in 2004, to 49.72 million in 2005, each year has increased by more than 10 million. In the first two months of this year, it has exported 10.92 million to the EU, a 1.5-fold increase over the same period last year.
After the EU anti-dumping sanctions, many energy-saving lamps companies began to switch to the US market and achieved success. In 2001, the export volume of energy-saving lamps at Xiamen Port to the United States was only 22.84 million, and by 2006 it had increased to 110 million, with an average annual growth rate of 37.7%. In the first two months of this year, it exported 26.79 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 86.6%.
