Abstract: This paper analyzes the current status of smart home related technologies, proposes a general plan for a smart home system based on the public switched telephone network, and explains the system's working principles and software and hardware design methods and processes. The system uses a computer and infrared remote control technology to realize an intelligent curtain mechanism, using dual-tone multi-frequency signals for information transmission, to achieve home security protection and remote control of home appliances. After debugging and testing, the system has the characteristics of reliable performance, rich functions, easy to use, etc., and has a wide range of practical value.
In recent years, the continuous development of computer technology and the continuous improvement of informationization have provided a solid technical platform for the research and development of smart home systems. Smart home is generally defined as a whole, that is, using advanced computer technology, network technology, and integrated wiring technology, through the home information management platform, the various parts related to home life are organically combined into a special integrated system. With the continuous refinement of smart home functions, its concept has been gradually extended, taking into account the residents' all-round requirements for residential environmental performance. Therefore, at this stage, the smart home system has changed from a product that originally focused on intelligence to an integrated system with the following conditions: First, a communication network must be established in the home to provide the necessary channels for family information. Under the control of the network operating system, through the corresponding hardware and execution mechanism, to achieve the control and monitoring of all household appliances and equipment; second, all household appliances and equipment must pass a certain media platform to form a communication channel with the outside world The information exchange in the outside world meets the needs of remote control, monitoring and exchange of information; finally, to meet people's needs for home safety, comfort, convenience, efficiency and environmental protection.
The transmission of control commands and information of the smart home system can be achieved in two ways: wireless transmission mode and wired transmission mode. With the increasing economic strength, the high-speed and reliable public telephone network (PSTN) has covered most regions and homes. In addition to establishing dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signals on wired telephone lines, It can also be widely used in data communication and has strong anti-interference ability, so it is technically feasible to use the public telephone network to control the home facilities. Compared with the wireless communication method, the use of the public telephone network does not require special wiring, nor does it occupy radio frequency resources, basically no electromagnetic pollution, and does not require a large amount of additional investment; and the use of wired IP network (Internet) communication Compared with the method, the communication method using the public telephone network has higher security and real-time performance. Therefore, the smart home solution based on the public telephone network has certain advantages in terms of technical feasibility and cost economy. It is of great practical significance to research and develop a smart home system based on the public telephone network.
1 Overall study of the system
1. 1 Functional requirements of the system
The functional requirements of the home system mainly include comfortable and pleasant family living space, home security protection (hereinafter referred to as security), remote monitoring of household appliances, etc. Therefore, the smart home system based on the public telephone network can set the following functions:
1) Intelligent control of curtains, including remote control, timing opening and closing control, light control, rain control and other humanized automatic control.
2) Home safety monitoring and alarming, mainly including gas (gas, natural gas, liquefier) ​​leakage monitoring, window screen detector monitoring, and door magnetic coupling monitoring.
3) Remote control of household appliances. Dial in the residential phone number at the far end, and the system will automatically connect after a delay of several seconds. The user first enters the password, and then enters the operation command to remotely control the household electrical appliances. The necessary voice prompts will be given during the operation.

According to the function settings of the system, combined with the characteristics and requirements of computer technology, automatic control technology and communication technology, the entire system can be divided into three parts: environment and security detection, control, and device drive. The environment and security detection part consists of sensor detectors such as light, rain, gas detectors, window curtains, door magnetic detectors and so on. The control part is mainly composed of the main control module (also called the main control board) and the security alarm and home appliance control module (also called the alarm and control board), where the main control board is responsible for the control of the intelligent curtains and the collection of security alarm signals. The alarm and control panel completes automatic telephone dialing, alarming, and voice recording, as well as the storage, query, and modification of phone numbers and home appliance control operation codes (passwords and instruction codes). The system structure is shown in Figure 1.
