Oscilloscope DC and AC coupling

1, oscilloscope

An oscilloscope is a widely used electronic measuring instrument. It can transform the electrical signals that are invisible to the naked eye into visible images, so that people can study the changes of various electrical phenomena. The oscilloscope uses a narrow beam of high-speed electrons to create a tiny spot on a phosphor-coated screen (this is how traditional analog oscilloscopes work). Under the action of the signal under test, the electron beam is like the tip of a pen, and the curve of the instantaneous value of the measured signal can be drawn on the screen. The oscilloscope can be used to observe waveforms of various signal amplitudes over time, and can also be used to test various types of power, such as voltage, current, frequency, phase difference, amplitude, and so on.

Oscilloscope DC and AC coupling

2, DC and AC coupling

The input coupling mode of an oscilloscope means the transmission mode of the input signal.

Coupling refers to the phenomenon that there is a close fit and interaction between the input and output of two or more circuit components or electrical networks, and the energy is transmitted from one side to the other through interaction; the input coupling of the oscilloscope belongs to The signals are directly coupled. There are generally two ways, DC mode and AC mode. The gear selection is generally grounded.

DC Coupling is straight through, AC and DC are passed together, and the AC component is not removed.

AC Coupling removes the DC component by blocking the capacitive coupling.

The grounding mark is GND. Actually, the input is disconnected and the input is grounded. The purpose is to eliminate interference and facilitate zero-change. Grounding the oscilloscope means that the probe of the test leads is clamped to the ground. It has nothing to do with the ground and the zero line.

For example, a 1Vpp sine wave is superimposed on the DC level of 3V. If DC coupling is used, a sine wave of +/-0.5V is used as a reference for 3V. If AC coupling is used, it is based on 0V. , +/-0.5V sine wave.
