Eindhoven, The Netherlands – February 24, 2017 (Global News) – The world's largest semiconductor industry semiconductor supplier and leader in automotive network security NXP Semiconductors NSF Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) today announced that the company A collaboration has been reached with the Automotive Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Auto-ISAC).
Auto-ISAC was founded by automakers to build a secure, worry-free platform for sharing, tracking and analysing cyber attacks and potential threats around connected cars. Auto-ISAC operates as a central hub where members can submit and receive information anonymously, helping them respond more effectively to cyber threats in real time.
The automotive industry has realized that the autonomous driving ecosystem, including wireless technologies that support communications, telematics, digital broadcast reception, and ADAS systems, poses a potential threat of hacking.
Best Practices and Auto-ISACNXP worked with Auto-ISAC to help develop the best cybersecurity practices for the automotive industry. Auto-ISAC publishes the "Car Network Security Best Practices Summary", which outlines the Auto-ISAC development information guide, covering the organizational and technical aspects of vehicle network security, including governance, risk management, security through design, threat detection, and Event response. ISAC implements training and facilitates collaboration with third parties. In the United States, 98% of vehicles on the road are produced by Auto-ISAC member companies.
comment:Lars Reger, CTO of NXP Automotive, said: "Only by relying on the joint efforts of car manufacturers, security experts and government agencies can the network security of the automotive industry be guaranteed. As the market leader in e-government and banking application network security technology, NXP will contribute to the organization with its strong expertise. The car needs four layers of protection: a secure interface to connect the car to the outside world; a separate security gateway; and secure communication between control units (ECUs) Network; and a secure processing unit that manages all the functions of connected cars. NXP is the leader in these key areas and looks forward to sharing expertise with industry partners to work together to create a secure future for connected cars."
