Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang: Semiconductor lighting is worth promoting


On September 17, the 10th China Association for Science and Technology Annual Meeting was held at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. In this high-intelligence gathering called brainstorming, Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Minister of Science and Technology, gave a wonderful report titled "Innovation, National Prosperity and the Source of National Rejuvenation from the Perspective of Innovation in Science and Technology Olympics." Wan Gang told everyone that China's new energy vehicles are about to enter the stage of large-scale industrial development.

Wan Gang believes that adopting semiconductor lighting is very cost-effective in terms of saving money, and it is worth promoting in terms of energy saving. He said that the semiconductor lighting technology adopted by the Olympic venues is expected to save 750,000 kWh of electricity throughout the year, with an energy saving rate of 70%. At the same time, due to the widespread promotion of semiconductor technology, the nationwide use of semiconductor lighting has reached 100 million kWh of electricity, and the traffic signal has saved 200 million kWh. Compared with the 70% ratio, if semiconductor lighting is used throughout the country, how much can it save in one year? He believes that in the future, in dozens of cities across the country, large-scale demonstration technologies for solar energy applications and energy-saving lighting will be promoted.

When we promote clean energy to today's clean energy vehicles, it supports and leads the economic and social development. The fundamental purpose of innovation is to improve people's livelihood.

Wan Gang said that our new energy vehicles have undergone the experience of the Beijing Olympic Games and are about to enter the stage of large-scale industrial development. At present, we are planning a hybrid application of hybrid vehicles and various new energy vehicles in ten cities across the country.
