IGP and EGP

From the autonomous system defined in the previous section, we can divide the network into several areas, which can indicate the scope of the routing protocol. According to the different scope of the routing protocol, we can divide the routing protocol into intra-domain routing protocol (IGP) and inter-domain routing protocol (EGP).
As the name implies, the scope of intra-domain routing protocols is limited to autonomous systems, and inter-domain routing protocols are suitable for routing exchanges between different autonomous systems.
IGP includes RIP, IGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc., while EGP currently only has BGP protocol.
