The New York Post quoted a number of people familiar with the matter as saying that Amazon plans to launch a robot-based grocery store that requires at least three human employees.
According to Amazon's imagination, this is a two-storey, multi-structured automated grocery store where the robot grabs goods and packs them downstairs for customers. The grocery store can range in size from 10,000 square feet (about 929 square meters) to 40,000 square feet (about 3,716 square meters). This grocery store has a maximum of 4,000 items.
The profit of the grocery store will be high because of the small salary that needs to be paid to the workers. According to people familiar with the matter, Amazon hopes that the grocery store's operating profit will exceed 20%, while the current industry average is 1.7%.
