In the dormitory, the student party does not need to buy a high-end router to use, so a newifi mini with a good price ratio seems to be appropriate, but in some universities in China, for some reason, it is not as simple as broadband dial-up at home. . They often need a certification software - Ruijie (Xaar).

Here, we would like to express our envy to college students who can access the Internet without using some authentication software. It is convenient because it can be used without authentication software. But I believe most schools are not like this. In order to use WI-FI, you must turn on the computer, and sometimes you will disconnect the computer by turning on Wi-Fi sharing! Due to the poor network and the inability to use routers, the unparalleled experience has given the campus network a title of “Metaphysics,” and IT-related people often feel headaches when it comes to campus network problems.

Maybe a lot of value friends said I went to a treasure to buy a Ruijie router is not enough? But the original cheaper router would have to be doubled after a little configuration, and the security is still unknown. This is not very inconsistent with Zhang Aunt's "value" concept? Here to share the knowledge of the router Ruijie certification, so that more students can enjoy the Internet!

First, the preparation

The Ruijie (Xil) certified open source software MentoHUST developed by the students of Huazhong University of Science and Technology can also directly download compiled software. (Note here that the project has stopped updating but it can still be used)

Second, start

1, open the service

The first step is to enable the SSH and FTP functions of the router. This is the prerequisite for the entire operation. For the opening of these two items, it has already been used in the application of newifi mini, only need to insert the U disk to install.

2, software upload and configuration First we have to connect the router, use the pre-preparation to download the installed software.

(The example IP address here is 100.00.00.00 and the account name is root, you have to change it according to the management data of the router)

Upload: Use Winscp or FileZilla to log in to the router through SFTP 22 port, add the unpacked mentohust to the route /usr/sbin, and the /mentohust/ folder in /etc/ to install on your computer. Open the directory, find 8021x.exe, W32N55.dll, SuConfig.dat and upload these three files to /etc/mentohust/.

As shown below, select the WAN port of the router, press the preceding number and then press Enter. (usually choose eth 0.2 or eth 2.2)

Multicast address selection 1 (Ruijie), DHCP mode selection 1 (secondary authentication), whether background operation selection 3 (Yes, output to file), and others default settings.

According to my school's configuration is this, please try to set up according to your actual situation. Among them, PingHost proposes to ping Baidu's IP address 119.75.217.109 so that it can automatically reconnect after disconnected.

Then set the entire software to run automatically, use Winscp to enter the /etc/init.d/ folder, create a new file called mentohust, enter the following text and save it.

Use Putty again to connect to the router and enter "mentohust" to verify that you are dialing.

If there is a dial-up problem, you can use the SSH management software on the mobile phone to log in to the router for management. You can use JuiceSSH on your Android phone and Termius on the iPhone.

Third, the software parameters explain

The MentoHUST parameters are abundant to best suit the different Ruijie certification environments in different schools. This program uses the configuration file (/etc/mentohust.conf) to save the parameters. Although the configuration file is a standard ini format file, it is not complicated, but some people still have problems because of space or configuration; therefore, it is not recommended to use manual configuration. Modify the configuration file to set parameters.

note! The account system of some schools is different. The account is a student ID@telecom (or mobile, China Unicom) for dialing on my router. You can ask the school principal about the certification status of your school.

If you still fail the authentication after following the above steps, please download MentoHUSTTool, capture it under Windows and save it as data.mpf.

Then go back to Linux and use the cd command in the terminal to switch to the directory where data.mpf is located. Enter the following command:
