Currently the device has been tested on 30 people, 90% of whom can use the device correctly after practicing one or two times. Most people who participated in the test had normal blood pressure. At least 85 people with different blood pressure levels must be tested before a device is placed on the market.

The researchers believe that once verified, the device can help people easily measure their blood pressure and determine if they need medication. Studies have shown that only about 45% of people with high blood pressure in developing countries know their condition. “If they know, then they can do something in their lives to reduce the risk of their stroke and heart attack.”
