Li Li can enter the circle of lighting design, which originated from Tsinghua University. At the age of 16, Li Li was admitted to the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University to study architectural design. After graduating from college, she directly studied Tsinghua graduate students, studied with her tutor and engaged in landscape design work. In 2003, Li Li, who was only 23 years old, earned her master's degree and stayed at the Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning and Design Institute.

Initially, Li Li did not work in lighting design work, but landscape design. With the deepening of her work, she began to be interested in lighting design. She believes that lighting design is a profession that can more clearly express the integration of technology and art. The lighting design has visual aesthetics, human activities, psychological needs, product facilities, management and maintenance, etc. More attention is paid to all aspects. She believes that lighting design may be more able to inspire herself, so she joined the team of lighting design research. Today, Li Li has been working at the Institute of Optics for five years. In the early two years, the Institute was mainly engaged in lighting planning and landscape lighting design projects. In recent years, it has mainly engaged in landscape and architectural lighting design projects. Indoor lighting has accumulated practical projects, and confidence is getting better and better, such as business clubs, office buildings, etc.

In the past five years, Li Li feels that the lighting design industry has made great progress every year, whether it is the Tsinghua Optical Institute or the entire industry. Some people may think that Li Li's career seems to be getting narrower and narrower from the beginning of architectural design to landscape design and then to current lighting design. However, practice has proved that Li Li's progress in lighting design is obvious to all.

Architectural design considers many factors, functional, spatial, aesthetic, technical, structural, material, etc.; landscape design mainly solves the realization of artistic vision; lighting design is different, just start lighting When designing, it may be considered a very pure thing, but after the in-depth discovery, lighting design is a very broad and very detailed work, which requires understanding the design conditions, construction structure, etc. of the design object, and also requires lighting. The facilities and the effects of their realization are mastery. Li Li concluded this way for the road he has taken in the past few years.

Li Li said that she will not give up her ideals, and she wants to continue her studies. Although this does have some contradictions with the current busy work, it is good to add energy to the various training and training opportunities arranged in the office. At the same time, I participated in the past tour of the American students, and also participated in the lighting design course training of the lighting design masters Louis CLAIR and Lin Zhiming in Beijing and Shanghai. Li Li said that her goal is to continuously accumulate practical experience and continue to learn.

In the past five years, Li Li's overall feeling of lighting design work has been busy year by year, and the quality of the projects has been continuously improved. The overall trend of the lighting design industry has been moving forward. The more the project is done, the more experience is accumulated. Instead, she feels that the more problems she needs to solve with her heart, the more she treats the design project with a more cautious and critical attitude. Lighting designers must not only realize their own creativity, fully respect the intent of the architect or landscape designer, meet the requirements of the owners, but also assist in the relationship between the bidding and construction of the lighting products. Contradictions are inevitable, because every aspect of contradiction has its own foothold. It is very important for lighting designers to explore and guarantee the quality of design in contradictions.






Use light to tailor

Li Li's design philosophy is to use light, care, and tailoring.

She explained: The research institute is a pure design institution. Our lighting design is not the display of lamps. Our design aim is to use the light to achieve the beauty, attraction or activity of the design object at night. In the current lighting design industry, it is necessary to abandon the lighting design and only select the appearance of the lighting without giving good guidance to the owner. The owner's focus may be difficult to go deep into judging the quality of the luminaire's light effect, our task is to guide the owner to give objective judgment on the luminaire and the actual results that can be obtained. We tell the owner that the idea is to do lighting instead of lighting, but to use light. In addition to reasonable guidance to the owner, in the early stage of the project, the designer should actively communicate with the owner. The idea of ​​the program report is very different from the idea that the owner has accepted in the past. In the past, most of the ideas they touched were Brightening the landscape lights, in fact, the light we are doing is not only the concept of lighting, but based on the regional positioning, spatial order, structural form and other conditions of the project carrier, taking into account the considerations of people's sights and activities. We want the owners to rationally understand what needs to be bright, what needs to be kept dark, and make their investment worthwhile.

The lighting design industry is relatively new. Li Li believes that lighting design and architectural design are very tightly integrated, and this combination will be more and more. The status of lighting designers has been continuously improved, and the improvement is more obvious. Nowadays, among the important projects, most of the lighting designers will participate in the architectural design and expansion work, and the space available to the designers will be even greater. LED is still to be perfected

In recent years, new products in the lighting market have been concentrated on LED products. The emergence of LEDs has indeed brought a new stage in the expansion of design methods, LEDs are increasingly being applied to practical projects. However, LED also has its own limitations, including its color rendering, heat treatment, stability of each link, etc. need to be improved.

For new technologies, we have to look at it from the perspective of two-fold, especially the banner of energy-saving and green lighting, which is applied on a large scale. Some products can only be used in the experimental range, such as LED street lights, which have yet to be considered in practical engineering. The technology of LED is relatively complicated. Whether it is chip or packaging technology or driver, every link may have problems. It is very important for the quality of LED products, especially now that LED has no complete detection means. When I visited abroad, I visited professional testing organizations and asked them what methods to use to detect the performance of LEDs. The answer is also in the exploration, and actively explore the detection methods of LEDs.
